Tips before purchasing a policy

I just want to add some tips before purchasing a policy:

1. How much can you afford to spend on a policy?
2. Investigate all of your options for insurance through employers or buying it yourself.
3. Consider the different plans and determine what is best for you such as an HMO, PPO or HSA.
4. Get insurance quotes from each insurer.
5. Consider if you have a pre-existing conditions and if there are any restrictions.
6. Do you need coverage for a family such as maternity care or children's care?
7. Will you be able to choose your doctor or hospital?
